Aggie and the Ghost
And a grand old time at a book festival
Aggie and the Ghost written and illustrated by Matthew Forsythe and published by Simon and Schuster came out on August 19, 2025!
I really love Matthew Forsythe’s books and artwork in general, so I pre-ordered the heck out of this book when I first heard about it. I found this book so pretty and pretty dang funny, too! Just read the synopsis from the publisher’s website:
“Aggie is very excited to live on her own—until she finds out her new house is haunted. But no fear, the situation is nothing that can’t be fixed with a carefully considered list of rules: No haunting after dark. No stealing socks. No eating all the food.
But the ghost doesn’t like playing by the rules and challenges Aggie to an epic game of tic-tac-toe—winner gets the house.”
I love the idea for this book and really appreciate the humor in it. Check out the endpapers below!
These endpapers are just a taste of Matthew’s beautiful art within the book. One of the reasons I really appreciate his work is because he is really skilled at creating strong value systems and choosing pleasing color palettes that seem to blend seamlessly. I once heard in a podcast interview he did that one of his art influences is Paul Klee. I totally see it!
For the Picture Book Look, I got to have my photo taken in a new setting because this past Saturday was the KPBS Festival of Books in San Diego held at USD! I had a blast working at the Warwick’s booth all day while we saw a huge turnout for the festival. The very hot and muggy weather did not hold people back from supporting literacy, independent bookstores, and libraries!
For my outfit I wore a dusty pink sequined tank top with some dark blue denim shorts and my white vans.
Here I am posing in front of our booth before escaping to the shade and tying my hair up haha!
And here are a few more photos from the day!

Thanks to everyone who attended the festival, my awesome coworkers, and my friends (including Demi, Sam, and Sinai) who stopped by and said hi!
Thanks for reading along!
You can grab a copy of Aggie and the Ghost at Warwick’s or Bookshop.org.
